Current problems with downloading content within pCon.planner

The Direct downloading of content from embeded browser windows no longer works automatically. This is especially noticeable in pCon.planner in the following scenarios:

•   Inserting a model from pCon.catalog or 3D Warehouse into pCon.planner

•   Inserting a material into pCon.planner for coloring

When the user click on the “Insert” button, a “Save As” dialog box now appears for the corresponding file. As a result, the content is no longer inserted directly into pCon.planner and when inserting materials, the paint bucket icon for coloring no longer appears directly.

Background

The reason for this behavior is an update of a Windows system component, which has been rolled out gradually in connection with Windows Updates since July 2, 2026. On systems where this update has already been installed, inserting content via integrated browsers—as we use in pCon.planner—no longer works as before and direct downloads are therefore no longer possible.

Workaround:

We are currently investigating if and how far we can resolve this issue from our side. We have also reported the problem to the manufacturer of this system component.

Until a permanent solution is available, we recommend the following workaround:

  1. Click "Save" in the displayed dialog. This is the step that was previously performed automatically in the background without user interaction.
  2. After saving, the dialog should close automatically, and the insertion process should continue. When inserting materials, the paint bucket icon should then appear as usual.

If the “Save As” dialog box doesn’t appear, please check if the “Show Downloads Menu” option is enabled in your Microsoft Edge browser.

You can find this as follows:

  • Open the Microsoft Edge browser
  • Open the browser settings by clicking on … in the upper-right corner and select the “Settings” menu item
  • Now click on the “Downloads” entry in the left-hand menu
  • Ensure that the option “Show downloads menu when a download starts” is enabled. A screenshot of this setting is provided below.
