Does a dimension line in pCon.planner end up underneath a floor surface and therefore become partially or completely invisible? This is usually caused by the 3D position/elevation of the dimension line relative to the floor.
pCon.planner treats a dimension as a 3D object. If the dimension line is at or below the level of a floor, the floor can obscure the dimension in certain views. The official documentation confirms that you can adjust the position of a dimension and the distance to the dimension line using the object interactors and the Properties Editor.
What can you do?
1. Move the dimension slightly higher:
- Select the dimension line. The green interaction points will appear.
- Move the dimension vertically upward slightly.
- If necessary, you can adjust the position more precisely via the Properties Editor.
This is usually the simplest solution.
2. Check whether the dimension is actually lying in the correct plane
For a dimension that you placed in top view, the Z-position may unexpectedly be at a different height. This can happen, for example, if you use a different UCS/3D plane while drawing. Move the dimension to the desired level or recreate it from a proper top view.
3. If you want the dimension to be displayed in front of the floor:
You can temporarily hide the floor so that you can select the dimension, and then position the dimension above the floor level. pCon.planner distinguishes between different 2D/3D elements and layers; invisible elements can also be caused by layer settings.
4. Dimensioning in a Layout/Viewport
This works slightly different. A dimension within a viewport is linked to the content of that same viewport. The official manual also recommends using “Freeze Scale” when dimensioning in viewports, so that zooming does not result in unwanted changes.
Most likely cause:
If the specific problem is: “I draw a dimension line on the floor, and as soon as the floor becomes visible, the dimension line disappears underneath it,” the first thing to check is the Z-height of the dimension line in the Properties Editor. For example, set it slightly above Z=0/the floor level. You do not need to delete the floor to do this.
